The two Eids

Question:

I was wondering what to do on Eid. Many of my friends celebrate on this day but I am not sure if it is ok. Does celebrating the Eid constitute any violation with the Book of God? Can you please explain?

To provide the full reply, I will God willing address each of the two Eids separately.

FIRST EID - Eid Al-Fitr
(at the end of Ramadan)

1- There is nothing wrong in having a social celebration with family and friends to celebrate the completion of the Quranic practice of fasting. Social events are not part of our religion.
2- It is not ok to observe what they call Salat Al-Eid because this is Salat is not authorised by God. To observe this Salat is haram because it means following a source of religion other than the Book of God:

Or do they have partners
who legislate for them of the religion what God did not authorise? Had it not been for a decisive Word, they would have already been judged. Indeed, the transgressors shall have a painful punishment. 42:21

SECOND EID - Eid Al-ADHA (starts on the 10th of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah)

Not only is it haram to observe the non-Quranic (Salat Al-Eid) during either of the two Eids, but it is also unrighteous to have any social celebration for this Eid.
Muslims celebrate this Eid Al-Adha and it is customary to slaughter a sheep.
To their understanding, they celebrate this Eid in memory of the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as commanded by God during his dream.
In reality, the dream that Abraham had was from the devil and not from God. For the Quranic evidence, please check this page: Abraham's Sacrifice

As a result, to celebrate Eid Al-Adha is to celebrate a lie against God.
