The Punishment of theft
The punishment for theft that is enforced in a number of Islamic countries, is based on the wrong interpretation of the following verse:
The male thief and the female thief: you shall 'eqta'u' (cut) their hands as a penalty for what they have committed as a deterrent punishment from God. God is Dignified, Wise. 5:38
Due to the misinterpretation of this verse, a non Quranic punishment is being enforced in such Islamic countries.
