Cruelty to animals
Email with question:

I see people abuse cats and dogs, some even beat them! When I think about it, I find no text in the Holy Quran forbidding any such cruelty to animals. I know that the Holy Quran is complete but there has to be something mentioned about that, right? or at least about ((having mercy on God's creatures). Whenever I talk to any Muslim, they say that Hadith talks a lot about that but no one mentions a text in the Holy Quran that speaks of that! Please tell me what the Holy Quran says about this matter, peace.

The Quran gives guidelines that can be applied to all manners of behaviour, including how to treat animals. The Quran advocates righteousness and also prohibits aggression. Any form of torturing animals would not fit these guidelines, such cruelty would not be righteous and would also be a clear act of aggression.

The Quranic words below confirm that the Quran advocates righteousness and also prohibits all aggression, and thus we do not need any Hadith to specifically tell us not to torture animals, this matter is clear in the Quran:
.
"Indeed, We reward the righteous" 37:80
"God does not love the aggressors" 2:190
