Those who are blessed with knowledge will recognize the truth from

your Lord, then believe in it, and their hearts will readily accept it.

Most assuredly, God guides the believers to a straight path.

These glorious words speak of a number of important issues. God tells us about those who are blessed with knowledge. What type of knowledge is God speaking about? Is it academic knowledge? Is God speaking about the academic scholars and PhD's? The answer is NO. The clue to the answer is given in the word "blessed with knowledge". These words indicate that the knowledge which God is referring to is a blessing that is bestowed by God Himself on some of His servants. This indicates that it is not an academic knowledge, since academic knowledge can be attained by anyone who sets out to obtain it.

If it is not academic knowledge then what is it. The reply is also given in the above words. God tells us that those who are blessed with this knowledge "will recognize the truth from your Lord, then believe in it, and their hearts will readily accept it."

This knowledge is no more than the wisdom and clearity of mind that God blesses some with so that they can recognise the truth, believe in it and accpet it.

The above Quranic words also speak of the Straight Path (Al-Sirat Al-Mustaqeem). God guides the believers to the Straight Path. This concept of the Straight Path is mentioned numerously in the Quran. As we know, there is only one staright line that connects any two points. This one staright line is the only direct line and also the shortest route between any two points. If we consider God at the ultimate point, and man at the other point, there is only one truth, one religion and one route that connects us to God. The one truth is that there is One God, Creator and Sustainer of all things. The one religion is Islam (submission to God) and the only route is to obey God and follow His Law to attain salvation.
